For several weeks now I have had a black dos box appear on the desktop for a split second when I start windows and have finally managed to get a picture of it, the heading is C:\Windows|system32\reg.exe should this be happening and why doesn't it do it every time I start the computer ?
many thanks in advance for any replies

This could be malicious, or not. Have you scanned for malware?

You might use Autoruns to see what's starting with Windows. Be sure to disable Hide Microsoft Entries and Hide Windows Entries under Options and search for reg.exe. It should be in there.

Did a bit more investigation and have found It's related to my disabling of the windows lock screen.

I had the same problem for a short time. W10 learns this is normal after a while and it does not show the little black screen.;)
