bios screen at boot up

Hi, A few months ago I posted a problem concerning my PC the time on the clock on the task bar being out by hours after it had been shut down and start up the next day. It was suggested that I put the system into hibernation rather than a full shut down, as the battery on the motherboard might need relaced. This I have been doing. But a few days ago, the machine was fully shut down in error and on re-boot the BIOS Screens appeared. I just went through all of them without changes any settings and carried on. This has happened twice now. I have had a look on the motherboard, and can see the battery on there. Can I change this easily without losing settings etc. and will this solve the problem?

Most batteries change easily. When you remove the battery, it'll go back to the BIOS defaults.

If you have a branded off the shelf computer, it shouldn't make any difference. If you have a custom computer, usually the only thing that has changed from the factory are not mystery stuff:

date, drive detection, port (like USB, etc) enable/disable.

Go into the BIOS and copy all the information before you change the battery to make sure!
