bios reading wrong

    Hi

    my computer is a amd athlon xp 1.6ghz , 1gig ddr sdram, my problem is it used to come as a 1.6 ghz now it say 800 mhz, My bios is way out of date 2004, i cant seem to find a bios update with out having to pay for it. My bios is award bios, motherboard is a nvidia nforce ultra 400 model # 6A61BD4FC can some one help me figure out how to get computer to read at 1.6ghz instead of 800mhz? i tried everything in the bios

    Welcome to WindowsBBS :)

    The nvidia nforce ultra 400 is the chipset fitted to your motherboard - it is not the make of the motherboard.

    You should be able to determine the make/model no. of the motherboard using SIW - Hardware > Motherboard. Post the information here.

    Check the actual speed of your processor while the computer is running using Core Temp (screenshot) and post the value - it will probably not be static, but clear enough if it is running at 800 Mhz or 1.6 Ghz.
