I have a used motherboard I am fixing for my sister's great grandson and it will not set up the hard drive. When I was working with it the message was that the hard drive bios was turned off. I can not find how to turn it on and also when I run winxp pro setup it states can't find hard drive, but hard drive is showing as the computer boots itself up. If anyone can help me please let me know.

Check for two things in particular.

If using SATA HDD, you may need to load SATA controller drivers at the prompt (press F6 to load manufacturer's drivers). You will need to prepare a floppy disk with the appropriate drivers.

Secondly, you may need to designate SCSI in the boot sequence if an IDE or PATA HDD is present and the SATA drive is going to be your system drive.

    ;)
