Resolved Best way to install win7 home preium?

First: I'm going to format c;/ drive just for this new install of win 7 BUT haven't done that yet.
I'm going to use Acronis backup on win 7 as I have for XP pro.... nice product.

I've backed up all password, favorites and i think there's going to be some XP programs that need additional help to run in win7.

Basically, what procedure would you recommend for this new install to keep as many original setting as possible?? install over the top of XP or what??

 

Before you take the plunge download and run the windows 7 compatability upgrade advisor.

You will not be able to keep your original settings, once you format the drive and install the OS everything else will be removed, you will be starting from scratch.

Any problems you have with Win xp programs that can't be upgraded to Win 7 can be run in XP compatability mode which can be downloaded for free.

The compatabilty advisor should tell you everything you need to know.

 

Thanks for that Pete, I was only referring to Windows XP mode from microsoft. We live and learn, I didn't know there was an XP compatability feature in Windows7.
