   I understand that most motherboards will handle several different processors; at least a couple. Is there a site where I could check this out?

   The manufacturers site for the motherboard in question would be a good start. When a motherboard is released, it is compatible with the at the time available processors. Subsequent processors may necessitate a BIOS upgrade. Information on that should be in the BIOS section.
