I usually install programs and store data on a drive separate from my c drive to keep the os partiion smaller for imaging and restoring. Is my system slowed by putting all of these programs on separate drives? thanks.

It could be slowed if the second drive is a slower drive, if second drive is fragmented.

I always install programs on same partition as operating system and use second partition or drives for My Documents and all other data/important files, as well as backups of email, address files, bookmarks, etc.

That way, when restoring an image of the C:/ drive or partition I don't have to reinstall all my software programs. And all my data is also intact.

Average size of partition images for me are about 2 GB tops. That's small by today's drive size standards.

    hmmm...2gb is a small c drive!
I guess I'll start doing that...installing to C: and putting data on separate drive. the drive is a 7200 rpm drive...pretty standard. anyway...thanks for your replly!
