Not a great thread title, I know, but I couldn't think of anything better :-.

    My question is this:
I want to upload some small, named jpg images (say, under 1mb each) to a website where they can be found by a Google or similar search for a certain name.

For example, if I upload a jpg named Horatio Hornblower.jpg, I'll want it to be located by someone doing a Google image search for 'horatio hornblower'.

So - is the best method to use a photo sharing site like Photobucket or Flickr etc? Or would it better to use a blog site?

I don't want to pay for this, so any method needs to be free.

I ask the question because I'm not sure that Google image searches return data found on say, Flickr, Photobucket, SmugMug etc.

    Thanks :)

I did the search you proposed, and did find an image hosted by Flickr. But if you just have the image, yours will be way down in the search results. If you have a popular page about the subject the image will rank better.
