Need your opinions on the best way to edit MP3 tag information. I'd like to be able to just go down my "MY MUSIC" list and edit all of the tag info with a "right click ". I know there is lots of software out there, what's the best for my needs? I am looking to put my music on an iPod and want it organized with proper tags so that the music info displays properly once transferred onto the iPod.

    Thanks

    Musicmatch Jukebox Plus
    (**)Paid version

Current version is 10, which I have not used. Previous version "Super Tagging" was in a class by itself. Have never used "Portable Device Manager" ... since I do not own a MP3 player ... but Xmas is just around the corner!! :D

Media Monkey.. Has some neat features. Also I think it has the ability to sync to your ipod.

    Standalone

Yes, I would rather use a standalone product that having to use MusicMatch Jukebox as I am happy with the media player I have. I will check out the Media Monkey, assuming I can google it to find it.

    Thanks

    Media Monkey 2.4.2
    Is a very good choice.

Both MusicMatch and Media Monkey are total media programs. Like WMP they play most types of music and video formats, streaming, provide equalizers to CD buring tools, along with managed media libraries / playlists. Both MusicMatch and Media Monkey free versions can edit/update Tags. For really large libraries the speed of MusicMatch (paid/super tagging) / MusicMatch data base is impressive.
Per Media Monkey, very disciplined in NOT taking over your media files. During installation, simple "uncheck" any file you do not want to be associated.

MP3 Tag Studio is another good one. It has loads of features and can rename and tag multiple files at once. The only thing that I've noticed that it's missing is the ability to add art to the file. They say it's coming in a future version though. The free version is fully enabled but you get to look at a small banner ad at the top of the program while you're using it. It's not spyware however. Any pic you see in the ad is simply an image that's stored on your hard drive just like any other pic you may have. Have a look at the FAQ's.

Stay away from Musicmatch. I've been a long time user of it and it's super tagging feature is truly second to none. It was a great program but since Yahoo bought it, it's become nothing but a bloated ad program for things they want to sell you. That and the fact that you'll have it for so long and then they'll change things that force you to upgrade to a newer version if you want to continue using certain features. The last straw for me was when I was notified a while back that my years worth of super tagging was used up and I needed to pay for an upgrade to continue using it. It's true that there is now a year limit on the super tagging but that policy didn't exist when I last upgraded. There's been a couple of other similar things over the years so I've decided to move on. I could go on and on with this rant and really make it a good one :) but it would take too long to voice all of my displeasure with them so I'll leave it at this. Stay away from it. Whatever you find for this may not be quite as simple as the super tagging thing but you can find things that will get the job done.
