Best brand of generic laser toner to replace OEM?

I have a Brother b/w laser printer which uses TN450 toner.

There are many generic toners available for a much lower price than the OEM. But many different brands, and I've heard mixed results.

Rating scores can help, but I don't always trust those. Has anyone here gotten reliable info on which brands are good generic toners, and which perhaps should be avoided?

 

Ummm, generic means it has no brand name.

The problem with aftermarket toners and ink is there is no guaranteed consistency. Toner and ink is really some pretty sophisticated stuff. The formulas are trade and patented secrets.

While printer makers can no longer void your warranty if you use aftermarket inks and toners, they don't have to honor the warranty if it is determined aftermarket ink or toner (or the cartridges) caused the damage.

I have no recent experience with laser toner so I cannot help you. But if me, I probably would try the major retailers first - like Office Depot.

 

Ask one of the sales people at one of the major retailers if they have any recommendations of any one in particular.
