Recently bought a Belkin F5D7230-4 Wireless G Router and 2 Belkin F5D7000 PCI interface cards.

    2 machines at home
    AN35N Ultra - AMD 1700+ 640M PC2700
    IWill KK266R - AMD 1700+ 1G PC133

The AN35 card dropped right in and seems than my old copper based system.

The second one, however...... the IWill .... I spent most all of a day on the phone with Belkins techs (installed & reinstalled software 11 times!!) - brought the offending PCI card back to Staples and got another - same problem. The setup software sees the card - it will tell me the proper network is out there, but I can't connect to it. XP's wireless setup don't see the card.

Both machines were networked with a copper based NetworkAnywhere router - never any problems. Removed all the old soft & hardware from both.

Shut down working machine and installed the router thru the IWill (just like a new install) - again - OK with copper - nogo with wireless. No response from IWill on a possible compatability problem.

Network works fine, except one is wireless and the other is copper - just hate to have a new unused wireless NIC laying around.

    TIA for any help.

I'll assume you have covered the basics since you were using Belkin techs. I'm sure you have powered down the router and reset it?

Try changing the physical orientation of the ailing computer. I had trouble using a wireless nic with the router upstairs and the wireless card unit in the basement, even though they were only approx. 25' apart. I turned the computer around, all worked fine. I took the router and card back and installed a copper system. :) Sometimes the wireless systems aren't all they're cracked up to be. I put cell phones and cordless phones in that same category. Use them but be aware of the limits.

Both machines sit side-by-side about 3 feet from the router.
The tech support I received took near 50 minutes to get to by phone all 3 times and was very basic - uninstall, remove card, start up reinstall card, etc. Swapped cards with the machines, and the prob stayed with the machine, precluding a bad card.
I will probably stay with the copper/wireless set-up I got for now, til I build another machine - very soon!!

    Thanx
