I up graded physical memory from 4Gb to 8Gb. Using BBCi films find that film stops periodically once or twice before continuing. This error does not happen with DVD Videos. Windows 7 64Bits.

Assuming that you refer to BBCi Player you are presumably watching streaming video over the internet. The pauses you mention may be down to brief lapses or slowdowns in your internet connection and the video pauses while the play buffer is refreshed.

In other words the video is downloading to the buffer from which it is transferred to the screen. Generally the content of the buffer is in advance of the actual frames displayed on the screen. If the download speed drops below that necessary to keep the video running it will pause until the buffer has built up it's advantage again.

Do you experience the same issue with, say, YouTube videos or videos in articles on the Web?

When playing DVD's the complete source is in the computer so there should not be an issue as indeed you mention.

PeteC, thanks for your reply. I do not use YouTube, in the past did use Virginmedia film trailers, this facility now requires an upgrade to my broadband fee. Brief lapses or slowdowns, are they caused by BBCi or Virginmedia?
Neil, flash player and Div X are installed as when they become available.

That's impossible to say as the feed from BBCi comes to you through Virginmedia - could be either.

Does this issue occur at any particular period during the day? At peak times download speed may well drop due to heavy traffic. Think of a motorway in rush hour - very slow moving then, but fast at other times.

PeteC, I watch BBCi around 14:00hrs and later at 19:00hrs. As what you say, depends on the traffic volume with Virginmedia. I can experience no faults for weeks, then a spate over a week, certainly does not happen all day and every day.
