I wrote programs in BASIC.EXE to work in ME's DOS. Now I need to run those programs in Windows 7 on a separate computer. If anyone else writes programs, can you tell me where to get a 64-bit BASIC.EXE that works? (I can't trust ads on the Net; I bought a flash drive advertised for ME, it didn't work, the manufacturer said it wasn't supposed to.) And will my programs work in W7 with a 64-bit system? I can't rewrite them all from scratch.

DOSBox seems to be about games. My programs are for data processing. For instance, you go to the bank to make a deposit, the teller calls up your account, enters the deposit, the screen shows your new balance. One program reads all my files with financial input, reads files with expenses, shows balances by category within month within year. My programs aren't for games. I'll have to keep looking.

DOSBox is not about games. It's about running old programs in a DOS box.

I strongly recommend that you visit PowerBASIC Inc.'s web site. The PB console compiler can accept and compile GWBASIC and BASICA programs with only minor modification. The resulting .EXE file is a true windows app. It creates 32bit apps that run just find in 64 bit windows. The peer support & tech support on the user forums there is also top-notch.

I thank you folks for your suggestions. I tried looking into them. But I decided to play it safe. Today a professional installed Windows 7 Professional. Then he added something about Windows XP Mode and/or Windows Virtual PC. I can't understand it, but I'm now running my homemade programs in DOS. Again, thanks.
