I am looking for software that would allow me to monitor internet bandwidth over my lan. (around 40 computers). I am using a befsx41 router that does do bandwidth logging though smnp but only total bandwidth (found this out after playing with wallwatcher for a while. (their support for a free product is great - must have emailed him ten times with questions). I could dedicate a computer that would be hooked between the network and the router if needed (or the router and the modem) but I just need direction on what free/inexpensive software is out there to do this.

    thank you

    You could look at

    SoftPerfect Bandwidth Manager ......
    SoftPerfect Traffic Meter
    Product page for SoftPerfect

Thank you. I downloaded the SoftPerfect Traffic Meter and installed it on a computer. I found an old 100baset HUB - yes hub and hooked it between the router and the rest of our internal network. Hooked the computer to that - allowing me to see everything passing though. So far so good. I set up filters for each computer I wanted to monitor and it gives my total bandwidth use for each.

    thanks again

    Glad it worked out.
    Thank you for posting back.
May want to keep a casual eye on network speed, per any interference from hub or monitoring program.
