I recently tried adding some RAM into my brother's computer. He had a grand 256MB RAM card. So I wanted to upgrade it to a GIG with some 512s I found at a Peddler's Mall. Now the computer doesn't even get to the XP screen!! It keeps coming up with a blue screen giving me some BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO screen!! I don't know what it means, so I put the old RAM back, and the screen STILL keeps coming back up! And because this computer is a Dell I bought from a Rent-a-Center, I didn't get any startup/boot discs!

What can I do to revive the operating system!? Please help!

    Okay... Here goes:

    _____

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

    BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need.

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable any components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode.

    Technical Information:

    *** STOP: 0x00000074 (0x00000003, 0x00000002, 0x80088000, 0xc000014c)

    _____

    Any clues, please?
