Bad hard drive?

    I started my puter up this morning and it wouldnt boot....shut it off and checked all the cables...they were all good so i tried again and this time it booted. Is this a sign of a hard drive failure begining? Its only a few months old but i know new dosnt mean good. Its a maxtor 40 gig hd. Never done this before. thanks for any help.
