I have been trying to apply a background image to my email. If I set the background image while in compose (with the format tab), it "takes ". But when I select an image in edit/preferences/composer/new page settings nothing happens - i.e., no image is placed on the email page. What am I doing wrong ?

The edit | preferences | composer | new page settings is for composing web pages, not for email.

Did you set Netscape Mail, Mozilla Mail or Thunderbird to send emails in HTML format?

You should open your Mail window, and go to Edit | Mail & Newsgroup Account Settings, and select "Compose messages in HTML format" under the account you wish to use.

You can try to create a template with Template for your email with background image.

    rong,

No, not if you create a Template. Open the composer for messages and create the background as you want it to appear to the recipient. Then click on File | Save As, and select "Template ".

When you want to send a message using the Template, double click on the Template. The original you created will always remain in the Template folder.
