I have IE8 on an eMachines T3256 with 512MB RAM and a 160 GB hard drive. I'm running WinXP with SP3.

Frequently, when I use the "back" arrow, top left in the toolbar, it steps back two steps, often losing the thread when I try a "forward" command to get back to the intermediate step.

I have a Logitech cordless keyboard and mouse set-up that I've been using for 5 years or more.

The problem has only appeared in the last 3 months or so. I haven't made any changes in the previous year other than regular MS updates.

Any ideas? BTW, I'm on Comcast.net as my ISP, if that makes a difference. We switched from MSN.com about a year ago.

Mouse may be double clicking without you realizing it. Have you tried changing the speed? I am not sure if this is possible since I don't have a wireless mouse handy right now. Go to the Control Panel/Mouse and slow it down a little.

Possibly the above but since you've used your mouse/keyboard for 5+years it's likely to be hardware failure. Try testing with fresh batteries then with another mouse.
