Axfreeporn Dialer - What's going on?

Seems as though the folks in the "Removing Spyware and Viruses" forum are being run ragged chasing this malware. Yet when I go to either McAfee or Symantec and search, I get a "Could not find" response. Google turns up a couple of other boards who are working at it - but apparently not to the extent of the WindowsBBS folks. Most of the Google hits are foreign language sites - don't know much about foreign languages but most appear to be Spanish.

Is there any common denominator emerging to guide the rest of us to take some protective action? Hats off to PeteC, Geri, TeMerc and the others who are pursuing this.

 

Yes it would seem we are the go-to forum on this infection. I'm actually not doing any logs at the moment, but monitoring the forum very closely.

They are doing a great job, and don't forget, noahdfear is also there, getting new files for his tool, which he created to find these nasties and then manually delete them.

 

I would ask those with the problem if they can remember what site they visited or email opened before they noticed the infection. There has to be a common denominator.
