Windows 7 32 bit would show all my AVI files with a one frame clip of the movie as the thumbnail or icon. Windows just did this as far back as I can remember.

When switching to Windows 7 64 bit I lost the thumbnail picture or icon picture of that file or movie.

Some older avi files will show the picture and some will not.

Seems like anything new will not show a thumbnail or icon picture.
Would like to turn that back on if possible.
    Any ideas?

Well I'll be darned mine does that too. Never noticed it before. I changed mine with Windows7 Manager(yamicsoft) in the Godmode you can line up the thumbs and icons to each individual folder if you want. Also, you can put a custom made HD icon for your HD movies and so fourth.
At least now you know it can be done. Under custom folder icons it gives a list of icons(thumbs or frames)the file it uses is windows/32 imarges.dll
As far as doing it in 7 without this program I don't know how but it can be. I am interested in how it is done myself.

Can you explain how you used Windows 7 Manager to solve the problem. Downloaded the trial version but not sure where to go from here.

HP solved my problem. The thumbnail preview problems can be resolved by clearing the thumbnail database and let the system rebuild it.
Hp walked me through it (took all night) but my thumbnails are back.
