Can these two programs be run from a partiton ( on a 2nd HD )which is now common to both XP Pro and Win98SE ?

BTW. All is in 32 bit format.

I would like to do this as then both OS would be have the same updated files to use. I forget half of the time to update both.

I have both My Documents and Favorites changed over so they both use the same ones now. Had to do a LOT of manual work for My Docs but I made it.

For AVG, just have it scan all drives. No need to have it installed twice.
AFAIK, Kerio will work in both, somewhat akin to Eudora, but even easier, because it doesn't need a common shared download folder, updates go right into the program.

p.s. Isnt' it about time you got yourself a router and forgot about software firewalls?

    Thank you reboot

I do have Eudora over on the other dirve already ( at least in XP ) And if KERIO works like Eudora then it will be no problem.

I have feeling that AVG will also. I may have re-install it in both but I believe I still should be anle to use a common folder on H:

I do not think so. I already have a Router. ( only one way blocking )

But I prefer to also have control of what gets out of the machine.

And also with a software FW I have control of the LAN also.

I also may need to explain how I have things setup a little better as it may well be a little different.

XP and 98SE are on separate Master HDs. With only one plugged in at a time. And both use the same 2nd HD as a Slave.

    Each master is C: D: E: F: G:. ( was C: D :E:F:G:H: ) The slave is H: I: J: ( was only supposed to be H: I: but I messed up ) The H: partiton now contains what was formerly on the H: partitons ( which are now gone ) of the Masters.

Eventually XP will be my main OS. And the 98SE will only be a well protected ( hopefully ) backup. Just a matter on moving two plugs app 1 ".

OK, now that I see your setup, it makes more sense.
AVG will recognize whatever update has been installed, no matter what drive it's running from. It may go through it's update procedure before the scan, but I see no reason it wouldn't work.

    Well, right wrong or indifferent.

I have both Kerio and AVG over on the H: Drive.

Kerio moved right over. And with help from Norton WinDocter all is well there.

I believe that I am coorect in thinking that I will need to be carfeull of RegSeeker for awhile though.

I reintalled AVG just to be on the safer side.

At least now I can get my various backups and downloads onto something other than the Master drive. I like it.

And I now have all of my Downloaded stuff in ONE place. With 98% of it compatable with both OS.

    I was correct.

I had to be VERY, VERY carefull when running RegSeeker.

But it was also very helpfull by having the capability to open the reg Key right there so it could be fixed.

I ran RegSeeker SEVERAL times without deleting ANYTHING.
