AVG free won't run, won't download new ver.

On Windows 7 have been using AVG free version for many years, when I tried to open to run scan it would not open at all, the program is all there, the service is set "running." I even tried to reload by downloading new set up but that failed too. What to do??

You mean besides getting current with W10?

When you say you tried to "reload by downloading new set up", what do you mean by "set up"? Do you mean new AVG? If so, did you uninstall the old AVG first? If not, uninstall, reboot, then try installing it again.

 

I mean I went to their website to get the setup file (setup is the file that installs the app)
and it would not even install. This never happened, I did not uninstall current version, will try that . In all previous updates I never uninstalled.

And you shouldn't need too. But it seems something is corrupt this time and simply installing over the old didn't work. So uninstalling, rebooting, and installing again is the next step.

Don't forget to reboot after uninstalling the old. That step is important.
