The PC I am using, temporarily I hope, was previously connected using a dial up connection. I am using it now with my DSL connection but today when I went to update AVG I kept getting a dialer window and it won't acknowledge my DSL connection.

I looked in Internet Connections and Internet Options in the Control Panel as well as AVG. I can't figure out how to get this resolved.

    Thanks.

I have a similar situation in that my laptop is enabled for dialup and also connects wirelessly to DSL......

    Open AVG > Control Centre

In the Security Status window click on Update Manager and then on Settings at the bottom of the window.

Click on the Dial-Up tab and uncheck 'Use dial-up connections' and OK out.

    Pete,

I simply don't know how to thank you. I left the house this morning totally stressed out.

My Vista (new) PC crashed and I am using my XP PC which is now causing additional problems. My external hard drive also bottomed out last night and I think I need to stop "computing ".

I figured this issue was an AVG issue but didn't know where to look. You are indeed a bit of a stress reliever.
