    Hi,
When I plugged my camera into my computer a panel popped up and offered me choices on downloading (or is it uploading) to my computer.
It does not happen anymore, and I wonder why.

Hi Lewis, I take it you mean the window asking what choices you want to take with the removable drive disc?
When you plug your camera in USB connector, is the camera shown as a disc drive if you have My Computer open?
Mine shows in Devices with Removable discs.
What software do you use to store your photos in/with?
Does XP recognize your camera? Neil.

Have you tried using your memory-card with a card-reader instead of connecting the camera via USB cable. Camera software often is not the most reliable.

    Lewis,

Is this the panel that you are talking about? I have a Fujifilm camera that would do nothing when I plugged it in. I would have to reload the camera software to get things going again. I'm not sure what would go wrong, but the reload would always clear things up.

    Hi,
The panel I am talking about is a Windows panel with this message and a choice of programs to select from

Windows can perform the same action each time you insert a disk or connect a device with this kind of file.
What do you want Windows to do?

I hope this makes it clearer,
    Thanks,
    Lewis

Lewis, I am quite clear on what you are talking about, have you tried the suggestions I offered in post 6. Both suggestions should fix the problem.
