Although I have set AutoPlay to be active and set the various options in the All Controls>AutoPlay window, AutoPlay does not start when I place media in the CD or DVD players. Please advise what can prevent it from working.

    Try this:

    • Click Start button and type cmd in Search programs and files box
    • Right click cmd.exe listed at the top of the Start menu and click Run as administrator
    • At the command prompt, type net start shellhwdetection and press Enter
    • Restart your computer

When applying Aire's suggestion, the cmd response indicates that this action has already been started. As for Evan's suggestion, the Autoplay dialog box does appear and I selected the desired options. I assume that Evan's recommendation is valid only when the dialog box does not appear. Please let me know if my assumption is correct.

So I assume that the Autoplay window appears but when you select an option from the autoplay window nothing happens correct?

I would still go through the instructions in the link that I posted and make sure everything is set properly. If everything checks out then we can move on to other options.
