I have my WIN Updates "on." I just checked and notice that my last update was 8/11/10. That's quite a while ago. Because I am using XP, might I no longer be entitled to receive automatic updates?

I'm new here and having a hard time navigating. By that I mainly mean I'm having a hard time finding my last post. Is a tutorial available here?

Windows usually only updates 1 time a month. Sometimes they may have one if something is exciting for them. Do you have SP3 installed? You can go manually and check if you want to.

Click on User CP (Top left) and look for subscribed threads (I believe by default you'll receive an email notification of answers anyway unless you turn this off).

Following MrBills advice you could always instigate a manual update (Start->All Programs->Windows Update) but since MS has decreed that XP is all but dead updates aren't that common nowadays.

BTW we don't all use the MM/DD/YYYY format, perhaps posting 11th Aug 2010 will be better, I initially read your post as receiving updates from the future ;)

So long as you are running SP3 you will continue to receive updates - for how long I am not sure, but MS support for SP3 ends in 2014. I would guess that is the time that updates will cease to be issued. Critical updates are issued on the second Tuesday of each month, known as Patch Tuesday - occasionally non critical updates are issued on the 4th Tuesday of each month. Very rarely an 'out of band' ultra critical update will be issued at any time.

Updates for Windows Defender and MSE are issued as and when required.
    Try this .....

My guess is that you're running Service Pack 2, to get updates you'll need to update to Servica Pack 3.

I am running SP3. I just kind of forgot about Patch Tuesday occurring only on second Tuesday of the month. Sorry about using the MM/DD/YYYY format. I'll try to remember that in the future. Thanks for the User Guide link, it was helpful. I wonder why I couldn't find that on my own.
