The yellow shield appears, click to install update, click express install, updates are unable to be successfully installed: KB922770.
I have restarted computer to no avail. I have manually gone to update site with same problem. Nothing seems to help. Shield still there still will not update successfully.

    What next??

    Help Please.....

None of the items listed on this page refer to the listed problem:
UPDATES WERE UNABLE TO BE SUCCESSFULLY INSTALLED; AFTER PRESSING THE INSTALL BOTTON CONTINUOUSLY. THE CYCLE BEGINS AGAIN AND AGAIN.

    Hi regztfen,

I've updated my response. I think you're going have to go thru the uninstall / re install to get this problem resolved.

    Regards - Charles

You should have a .NET Framework 2.0 entry in Add/Remove - that Microsoft program is what KB922770 is patching.

BTW, please turn off the CAPS - its irritating, its a shout and I don't like being shouted at even in print.

    Regards - Charles

You're not the only one having problems with KB922770 but you're the first I have heard of who doesn't even have .NET Framework 2.0 installed. I went google on the issue but found no information. If you are sure that .NET Framework 2.0 is not installed, Windows Update misidentifies your computer to need the update. You could uncheck the box for its installation (in Windows Update or Automatic Updates) but you need to go "Custom" to get that option. If you choose to uncheck the update, keep an eye open for an (forthcoming?) explanation as to why AU/WU insisted on installing it.

No, he is right. When someone with over 4,000 posts tells you something, you should take it serious. On the Internet, writing in all CAPS is considered shouting. Besides that it gets very hard to read.
