My wife and I are travelling. We each have notebooks running Win 7 64 bit and use Internet Explorer as our browsers. I am currently using a wifi connection that was initially tagged as having no internet access and required me to start my browser after establishing the wireless connection, as is quite common. My browser started to try loading my normal homepage, and then automatically redirected to the wifi connection owner's login page. I logged in as required, and the connection works perfectly. However, when my wife tried the same process on her notebook, her browser will not redirect and simply tells her there is no internet connection. The wireless connection icon is tagged with the comment that there is no internet access.

On another similar wireless connection recently, her browser redirected perfectly to the wifi provider's login page, and everything worked fine. Can anyone suggest what can be done to make her browser redirect to the login page for the present connection?

    Thanks.

Verify your Internet Security software is not blocking the redirects as part of its "safe browsing" feature or firewall.

I went through all the settings I could think of and compared those on my notebook with those on my wife's. I found that her notebook specified TCP/IP DNS settings where mine was automatic. I changed hers and the problem went away. Her notebook is now connecting as it should. I don't understand what this setting does, but am happy to accept the result. I don't know how this setting came to be specific when it was originally set up to be automatic.

Thanks to those who thoguth about the problem.
