There is this pseudo welcome screen that shows up in my XP, in which commands go by, just like a good old DOS batch file. At first it didn't get my attention as it was booted into by my Paragon Disk Backup when copying a partition with a running program. But then it showed up after fooling around copying things in a DOS Partition Explorer. Because of a "security violation ", and ran an old fashion DiskScan. (How XP knew something had been written to the disk outside it's self I don't know? But this OS is really particular about anybody else using the hardware!) The point is, this told me it was a Window's item rather than part of the Paragon software.

I've tried to catch what is going on and can't (yet). But apparently there is a built in script execution mechanism on startup. I want it! I need it! Somebody please tell me about it!

I'm not really sure what you're asking here. Do you have a problem or just wondering where you can add logon scripts?

You might take a look at autoexec.nt instead of autoexec.bat which is not usually parsed in XP unless you have specifically enabled it. Autoexec.nt is in your system32 directory (open with Notepad).

If you are running Pro, run: gpedit.msc.
That will give you options for running scripts at logon or logoff under Computer Configuration, Windows Settings.
