I'm running Win 98 SE and normally when I open my browser (Netscape) my modem proceeds to dial-up automatically. For the past month or so it has stopped doing that. I don't even get the dial-up screen. And, of course, the browser times out eventually. In order to make a connection I have to click on an icon I put on my desktop which comes from "Dial-up Networking" in "My Computer ". The same thing occurs (or more accurately doesn't occur) anytime I click on anything that should connect me to the internet. I'm not aware of anything I did to my computer at the time I started having this problem, and I've tried un-installing and re-installing my modem to no avail. I can't think of anything else to try.

Check Internet Properties>Connections - perhaps the 'Always dial my default connection' has become unchecked.

    Yep.

Call by every now and then - I or someone else may be scratching our head one day and you may have a simple solution.
