I just received a new list of automatic updates that include several items already installed on my computer plus several that want to install for Office 2007 (which I don't have-I have 2003). And you sill see some listed for Microsoft Visual C + + which I don't know if I should include. Can you recommend what I should install?

Here's a list of what the auto updates are: https://www.dropbox.com/s/28fu2a6j9wkfeg4/2013-12-17%20Security%20Updates.doc

My OS: XP Pro 32-bit SP3

Hi KAL. The updates for Office 2007 are probably for the Office Compatibility pack that you installed so that Office 2003 can open some of the newer file extensions that are used by newer versions of Office.

The SP3 update is for Microsoft Office 2003 and not for Windows XP. If you don't have SP3 installed for Office 2003 then I would recommend that you install that update ASAP.

As for the Microsoft Visual C++ security updates, you should install those updates as well.

    Evan,

Thank you so much for clarifying that for me. You are so very helpful.

You helped me with my laptop running slowly just recently. It is running much better but I am getting unresponsive scripts messages a lot. Mostly when I am checking mail on yahoo, sometimes on Facebook. I've disabled my plugins and let my browser (FF) ask before I enable and also have done the same with the add ons. What are scripts and what do they do?
