I have a problem with my system doing an automatic shut down, completely turns off, while doing a boot up. I can immediately turn it back on with no problems. This happens intermittently, not all the time, but just enough to make it annoying. What can be causing this problem?

How far does it go before a shut down?

broni: I'm not sure but I think it happens after the Windows logo shows but before my desk top window appears. In order to be sure I'll have to wait until it happens again, at which time I will be more observing. Thanks for your reply.

I assume, that it happens when you turn your computer on for the first time, so we may exclude overheating problem.
Another culprit can be your video card. If you have separate vidoe card (not on board), open computer case, and try to reseat that card. Also, get the newest video card driver.
