I recently installed a new Intel SSD. The "clone" software didn't work very well so I installed Windows 7 64-bit from scratch. Since then whenever I get any flashplayer requirement I have to click on the arrow in the circle to get the item to play. Before this install, it would for the most part always start automatically. I have the latest versions of flashplayer (which I have uninstalled/reinstalled several times). No matter what I've tried it's still the same. I use the latest version of Firefox as my default browser. I have tried searching for a similar situation but so far have not found anything relevant. Is there anyone who has had a similar situation or know of a solution for this? Any and all help would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

You may want to post a screen shot to show... Also, post a link to where this would be happening.

Which flash player did you install?

Also check under Manage Add-ons in Internet Explorer (assuming for a moment that's the browser you use) to see if the flash player is listed & set to "Enabled ".

Online Flash videos embedded in Webpages contain code that auto-starts the video. The Flash software has no control over auto-start. It's controlled by HTML or javascript code in the page.

    Flash Player Autostart

I have a screen capture of an instance where a video which I think uses Flash Player. I attached it here, hopefully. The reason I think it is a Flash Player video is, as you can see, an "f" in the middle of the screen. When I place the cursor over the "f" it changes to an "arrow" pointing to the right. When I click on that the video plays.

It may not be a Flash Player video and I might have to select some other option for auto play.

    Thanks all.

Are you running any Firefox Extensions that might block Flash from automatically starting? Some people run this kind of extension to block Flash ads. To check and see, in Firefox click Tools > Add-ons > Extensions.

    Flash Player Autostart

SpywareDr hit the nail on the head. Apparently at some time (and I don't remember doing so) I installed a Firefox extension called "Flashblock ". After reading the description very carefully I have no idea why I installed it. Bad decision on my part.

Thanks to all who offered suggestions. This mystery is now solved and the thread ended.
