    Hi M

If it is suddenly losing power to system, I would think that it's either the power supply or the processor overheating and causing a safety shutdown.
You could try borrowing another power supply to try (or get a computer knowledgable friend to help if you're not confident).
Overheating processor-check that the processor fan is working properly.
I haven't heard that a virus can do this, although others may have??

thanks man, i was thinking the same ( in a way) because the fan has been a bit tilted and it makes a sound that it never did before, and sometimes the power cable makes a sort of silent buzz sometime! well thanks im going to have to end up replacing both so i dont have this problem anymore!
