I can't find the location in Office Excel or any office program where I can tell it to auto save when you accidentally turn off the PC due to stupidy or power failure.

I don't want to loose my work when that happens.

    thoughts.
    Thanks.

If it happens because of stupidity...well, you're on your own there. ;)

But in the case of power failures, your best bet is to invest in a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Suppy). A decent one will keep your computer running 10 or 20 minutes after the power goes off...plenty of time to get things shut down properly...and costs around $50 or less. It also serves to clean up the power reaching your computer. It eliminates the cumulative damage from the tiny, constant power surges that don't even dim the lights but can do a number on computer components.

Copied from the Excel (2000) help files:
Save workbooks automatically as you work
    1. On the Tools menu, click AutoSave.
    2. If the AutoSave command is not on the Tools menu, you must install the AutoSave add-in.
    3. Select the Automatic save every check box.
    4. In the Minutes box, enter how often you want Microsoft Excel to save workbooks.
    5. Select any other options you want.

    From Word (2000) help files:
    1. On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Save tab.
    2. Select the Save AutoRecover info every check box.
    3. In the minutes box, enter the interval for how often you want Microsoft Word to save documents. The more frequently Word saves documents, the more information is recovered if there is a power failure or similar problem while a document is open in Word.

Note: AutoRecover is not a replacement for regularly saving your documents. If you choose not to save the recovery file after Word opens it, the file is deleted and your unsaved changes are lost. If you save the recovery file, it replaces the original document (unless you specify a new file name).
