    Auto-protect enable would not set on Norton AntiVirus and neither would the email scanning option. I am using windows xp, i have spybot and noadware. The problem is involving Norton System Works 2003. Any one else had this problem and any suggestions. Thank you!

    Shaylacollins,

    Welcome to the board! This has happened to me before. If I remember correctly, because it's been awhile, I had to reload Norton SystemWorks. Just make sure you completely remove the current program before reloading. Removal instructions can be found here.

    And to COMPLETELY remove the old version it requires.

    Run the uninstall first then;

    1-Run Norton Windoctor from the CD.

    2-Run something like Regseeker to help clean the Registry.

    3-Using Windows Explorer to DELETE any leftover Symantec folders. and do not leave them in the RecycleBin.

    4-Do a COLD ( power off ) RESTART of the machine and run some checks again.

    Symantec software can be a VERY BIG pain in the backside to remove. As ( unless things have changed ) its' own unistall DOES NOT do a very good job.

    Also.

    Once you do get thing cleand up.

    Clean out and make new Restore Points in XP

    Delete the old rb00x.cab files, restart windows and let 98 make new registry backups.

    If you do not do this and you happen to do a system Restore you can be ( and I was ) worse off than you were in the first place.
