I have trouble viewing images from yahoo.mail and others.
When I check my character encoding I find that my auto-detect is (off)...I have checked Universal but still don't get some images. Tell me how to turn auto-detect (On). Thanks.

    Welcome to the Forum, joycez!

    Joyce,

There is no "ON" feature for auto-detect. Have you tried using Western (ISO8859-1) rather than Universal?

Run this test, and see what happens with images.

Also check this Firefox KB Article: Images do not show

Do you have the current version of Flash Player installed? That would be Version 9.0.124.0, and can be downloaded here: Adobe Flash Player Download Center

Are you using a Theme other than the default?
Also, which Version of Fx are you running?
Have you tried running Fx in Safe Mode? If so did that help?
Try disabling Add-ons/Extensions one by one and see if one of them might be causing the problem.

Let us know how you fare.

    trouble viewing some images

This is the html for an image in an email received that produces the broken icon not the image:

    <span style= "font-size: 26pt; color: black; "><img id= "MA1.1214608015" src= "cid:1.892664566@web39508.mail.mud.yahoo.com" width= "601" height= "408 "></span>

Thank you for your post, Ramona. Here are the results:

can view all images in the sample text except:
    Image 5
<a href= "javascript:document.getElementById('myimage').setAttribute('src','http://img307.imageshack.us/img307/1337/blimp59ck.png') ">First click here</a>; if after clicking the link, the blimp image does not appear check under: Tools | Options | Content | JavaScript <put checkmark here
    <img id='myimage' src='http://img307.imageshack.us/img307/6524/1pixel13np.png'>

I don’t understand how to run this test. There is no link to click and I can’t get my java console to display anything.

In my about:config file, all pipelining cannot be reset "“ that feature is dimmed.

I downloaded the latest Flash version.

I am using Firefox 3.0 and my home page is my.msn.com

Running in Safe Mode with no add-ons had no effect. Still can’t view images in sample email above.

    What’s next?

    Best,
    j.

    Joyce,

Click on this link to view image #5:
    http://img307.imageshack.us/img307/1337/blimp59ck.png

You should have no problem viewing the image.

Are you using the Firefox 3.0 default Theme?

Have you tried using Western (ISO8859-1) rather than Universal?

It might also be that the image was sent in an unreadable "encoding type." When a message is sent, the sender might be able to choose an encoding type. If possible, have the sender use MIME encoding.
