I am unable to have sound without a high pitched humming in the background. Alternatively, I can switch ports and have sound without the noise, except that all internet based sound doesnt work at all, only iTunes, games, etc.

I tried putting in the sound card I had from my last computer, but it doesnt work. I dont wanna go in the BIOS and mess things up when I dont know whats wrong with it. What would cause this high pitched hum? What can I do to fix this?

    THanks alot

Hi Chip and welcome to the BBS,

I might ask, what is "switching ports "? Are you changing the audio channel configuration (2, 4, 6, 5.1, 7.1, others)?

Noise, hum...check that audio cables do not run adjacent to power cables.

    Matt
