All of a sudden I have lost all audio. I tried the help suggestions to no avail. In correcting some other problems earlier, I may have inadvertenly messed up the audio. Also when re-pluging my Scanner, I inserted into the blue instead of the green opening into the computer. I have it right now, but wonder if that snafu didn't cause my no audio problem
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Right click on My Computer, select Properties, click on Device Manager, look for yellow splats. Do you see an entry for Sound?
    Also, which version of Windows?

Thanks Mark. You helped me out a few days ago. I have windows 98. I tried what you said but all of the sounds look normal on Devices.
    Any other suggestions. Again thanks.

    Mark,
I was encouraged when I was on bluemountain and the sound came on for one of their cards, but tried Find-chimes-click and no sound. The only sound I've heard in two days now is from bluemountain.
    Thanks

    A possiblity.

Do you have an Internal Modem ?

If so then there may be ( a will not show in Device Manager ) IRQ conflict between it and the Audio card. Internal Modems are well know for doing this.

    Possible fix.

Remove the Modem from the device manager first before shutting down. Then oull it out physically.

Get the Sound card working and then but the Modem back in. And hope it works.

    Thanks Mark and BillyBob,
I now discovered that if I turn the Volume control on the speakers to the very maximum, I can hear sound that is audible but not loud. Can I fix that volume problem??
    Thanks again.

This maybe so simple to fix. Go to Control Panel\Multimedia, check the box for Show volume control on the Taskbar, click Apply then OK. Then double click on the speaker icon that should now be there on the Taskbar. When that opens go to Options\Properties. Click on Playback, then in the white box below see that everything is checked, then click on OK. You should now see a bunch of sliding volume controls, with Mute checkboxes. Adjust to your liking.
