I am running Window 7. For some time my screen shows a red circle with white X next to the speaker symbol. Tried Services.msc and ended up with the Window Audio Endpoint Builder not running, system cannot start it.
any idea how to fix it? Put a new audio card in, did not do anything either

Looking at the dependencies for that service, it requires the Plug and Play service to be running. So, check to see if it's started or not. If not, start it, then try starting the Windows Audio Endpoint Builder service. If this works, set both services to automatic (default for both).

thanks for your suggestion, unfortunately it did not fix it> window end point builder = error code 1067 (process terminated unexpectedly) when I tried to start it. Windows Audio error code 1068 ( the dependency service or group failed to start) plug and play is started and setting is automatic
