It appears that the drivers will not work with SP2. You will need to find updated drivers for it.

If the computer is a branded type, like a Dell, HP, Compaq, Gateway, etc, go to their website and look up the driver downloads. Otherwise, find the make and model of the motherboard and go to the manufacturer's website.

If you go to Start -> Run and enter msinfo32, look at the System Manufacturer and System Model information under the System Summary heading. Put that information into a websearch.

It may be that the motherboard can have different types of audio controllers for different versions. Check the drivers CD for different types of audio. If it is running SP1 now and the audio is working, in msinfo32, go to Components -> Sound Device -> Name, will be the name of the updated drivers you are looking for.

Have you installed drivers for the chipset? You should install those before any others. It would be wise to find an update for the chipset drivers and install those before the audio drivers.

If you have trouble identifying the components, try Everest in my signature. Post back with as much information about the computer as you can if you are still stuck.

    Matt
