After inserting an audio CD in my DVD player and double clicking on the cd icon I get an error message saying "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item "

If I right click the CD icon the "Play" menu option is bold (default); by selecting the "Open" menu option I can see the different tracks on the audio CD and are able to play them.

I didn't encounter this behavior before; It was there all of a sudden.

My question is twofold: has someone any idea as how to solve this problem and where in Windows 7 can I find how to change the "Open" behavior menu option?

    Hi neb,

    Have a look see here:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/279614

Other wise enable autoplay. Keep in mind that the Autoplay feature is, by default, disabled in Windows 7 due to security reasons. This is done in an effort to control Malware and virus infestations that can also "autorun" on your computer if an infected USB drive or CD is inserted. However, this is user choice and you have been forwarned so use it at your risk.

    See google hits for this:
    http://www.google.com/search?q=enable autoplay
