Audacity will not record in Windows 7. It will only work with "Stereo Mix" setting. I do not have this option in the control panel>sound>record so various sites say download the drivers.

I downloaded the Drivers from Realtex. They installed and I was asked for a restart. Did that...but Stereo Mix does not appear as an option in the control panel "Sound" box...even as a "Hidden element," or in Audacity. I did this a number of times.

    ???

    Thank you,
    Carl

You must select to proper Input in Audacity. Sound inputs are Line In, Microphone, etc.
