atiptaxx.exe, gone but not forgotten

    I have a Amd 700 athalon on a Asus motherboard, 128m ram......running Windows 2000 pro. Lately on every bootup I get the error message

    atiptaxx.exe has generateg errors, restart program, error log is being created.

    any ideas on how to remedy this error?

    Could you maybe say exactly what errors?

    atiptaxx.exe = ATI Task Bar Icon. This is a System Tray icon which gets installed when you install the ATI drivers. All this icon does is enable you to bring up the Display Properties from the System Tray.

    For the moment you can supress the thing from firing off at startup. It will start any time you look at your display properties but only then and you can go to task mgr after you finish and kill the process I think.

    Go into the "Options" tab of the Display Properties and uncheck the "Enable ATI Task Bar Icon" option. Then, delete the "ATIptaxx.exe" line with Startup Manager.
