    Hi all,

Are you supposed to be able to connect to the internet via a LAN without signing in first?

What I'm trying to say is: I used to be connected online as soon as my PC booted up, but now I find myself having to click on the AT&T fastaccess DSL link to go online.

I used to think that I had to always connect to the web via the AT&T link at all times, until I re-installed XP Home about two months ago. As soon as connected the ethernet cable (after the re-install), boom, I was online.

    Thanks.

Well, I just answered my own question, lol.

After thinking things through, I decided to enter the modem's address into my browser and it took me to a sign in page. After entering my user name & password, I then rebooted and now the PC hooks up to the web after the LAN icon appears in the tray.

No need to sign in with the AT&T link.
