    Every time I reboot my computer I am asked to enter a number for how to start up.
    1 = normal etc.
    I dont want to enter a number everytime, I just want my computer to start up normal.
    I am using windows 98SE

    Also I am gettin a password window every time I start up and would like to eliminate it. How can I do this.

    Go to Start\Run, type in Msconfig and press Enter. Click on the Advanced Button, uncheck 'Enable Startup Menu'.

    Now go into Control Panel\Network, change the Logon type to Windows Logon, then reboot as prompted. When you see the login window, click on OK. It should not appear again on next boot up.

    Did what you said plus I found this from Dennis L on another post that worked. I had to go into my network folder and then into password folder as described in the following web address which can be copied and pasted into a web browser

    Describes how to prevent Windows from prompting you for a password when you start Windows.

    How to Prevent a Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows Me Logon Prompt at Startup

    Thanks for the help
