I run a radio station's website (www.ktbg.fm) and I am having problems getting our Windows Media streams to pull up in Netscape 6 or higher. The links are to .asx meta files to open Windows Media. One computer I was looking at had WMP 9 or 10 on it, and Netscape 7, and all the settings as far as MIME types and file type associations looked to be kosher, but the audio won't pull up.

I saw a couple threads earlier regarding a possible setting in the registry, but I don't know if that would work in this situation.

If possible, I would like to get together a straight-forward list of things my listsners can check/fix on their system so they can listen to our stream.

Thanks for your time. I can go test my links on the computer mentioned earlier and detail what happens if that's needed.

It won't work directly from Netscape/Mozilla/Firefox (I tried all of them).
First: when I click on the listen to link, I get code, which tells me nothing about the format to play it. Internet Explorer will understand it, but none of the gecko browsers do. Secondly, it is not an .asx (playlist) file, but rather a .wmx, also playlist, file. It does not really matter, though. Although some people prefer to play within the browser (you have the option with IE, but WMP and IE are close relatives).
So far, the only way to play is to right click |Save link target as ( you will see that the file is .wax). I save it to the hard drive, and open it with whatever I wish. WMP10 and Jet Audio6 work fine.
