    Hi,
I have an ASUS A7V Motherboard....I bought it when it first came out because it was an A socket Motherboard and I wanted an AMD Athlon Processor based computer...
When I ordered this Motherboard it was hailed as the best, newest for AMD processors..

After years of everyone who bought them trying to find a fix for them it has been announced that the A7V is not compatable with AMD Processors and there is NO fix for them...

My problem is,,,I have a really good AMD Athlon 900 Thunderbird Processor attached to this bogus Motherboard just going to waste.

    My questions are...
1.) Has anyone had a good experience with a Motherboard that works extremely well with AMD Processors???
2.) Is it possible to remove the 900 Thunderbird Processor from this crappy Motherboard and attach it to one that is compatable???

I will second Bmoore's post. I've been using An AMD Athlon with a Gigbyte Technology board for about a year and a half with no problems. If your going to remove your AMD and install it on another board simply follow a good mounting practice to join them.

Bmoore1129...Thank you very much for the link
I went to the site and found where to purchase a Motherboard...
There was quite a few vendors listed....
At least now I have lots of choices....
Have you purchased from any one vendor continuoslly??? I am looking to buy from someone who has been in business for awhile and is a good bet to stay in business to be able to back up any warranty......

derfsch......Thank you for the confirmation of the quality of the Gigabyte Motherboard....
Is there a site I can go to that has the instructions for the proper way to remove and install my processor????

    Hi,
www.arcticsilver.com and go through the tutorials.

When you are interested in a motherboard, go to the website and check the "CPU support" for that model (that it will run your 900 Thunderbird).
BTW searching the Gigabyte website can be easier by using a Google search, eg., search for "GA-?????? CPU support ", although I think Gigabyte has recently updated their website and made it easier to find things.
