My files that have no extensions (no dot-something) should open with a app of my choice -- XP let me associate them with notepad, but i haven't figured out how to do it with Win 7 -- how is it done?

If focus is just on Notepad as a choice...
Alternative is to add notepad shortcut to the sendto folder. This way you can right click on any file and scroll to the option "send to" and notepad will be among choices.

First copy shortcut for notepad the paste it into your sneto folder.

    To get to yours:
    >click start button
    >on "search type in line ", type bolded text shell:sendto
    >list results will have "send to" folder, click on it.
    > send to folder will open, paste shortcut to notebook in the "send to" folder.
