System is Windows XP Pro SP3 with all relevant updates applied.

I'm in the process of ripping my cd collection to my hdd and have been encountering lockups, freezes and ASPI errors every time I try to rip. I've been using either Exact Audio Copy or CDex as my ripping program then converting to either .flac or .ape files.

Since this problem started I have removed the ASPI drivers and replaced with Adaptec 4.71 drivers. Still having the same problem. Not quite sure where I need to proceed from this point. Both of my cd/dvd drives will play discs and I can also burn without difficulty, just can't do any ripping.

    Any assistance would be appreciated.

This issue has been resolved.. Opened up my pc case and gave everything a good cleaning. It appears that the heatsink vents were clogged with dust causing the processor to overheat. I also did a defrag and installed ver. 4.60 of the Adaptec ASPI drivers. All is well for at least the time being.
